[Post urging people to sign a petition to Parliament to not invoke Article 50]

The only hope, aside from a few hopeful legal challenges, is that a government, either before or after an election, does not invoke Article 50. Make no mistake, once they do, 2 years to the day later the UK will leave the EU, trade deal or not (probably not). In addition, this will be without the assent of parliament. Yes, they must revoke the acts that make the UK part of the EU in UK law, but in EU law the UK will cease to be a member whether or not Parliament says so. This is the only way to stop that. Please sign and write to your MP!
